Following the recent damage caused by unsanctioned trail building on the new section of BKB, Hurtwood and Redlands Trail volunteers spent a morning reparing the damage and doing some other trail maintenance. The good news is that the new section is holding up well.
If the hole in the bank had remained then it would have held water which in turn would keep the trail wet which would then have turned into a puddle, getting bigger every time wheels went through it. Sometimes this leads to alternative lines being created and ‘trail creep’.
There will be some routine maintenance scheduled shortly to tweak the trail outslope as well as other minor matters. (If you are on the volunteer list then you will receive an email.)
